Free sandbags available

St. Johns County is providing free sandbags to residents in anticipation of inclement weather expected from Tropical Storm Hermine. Residents are required to bring their own transportation and shovels, and are responsible for filling their own sandbags.

Southern pine beetle infestation impacting St. Johns County forests

Forests throughout Florida and St. Johns County are currently experiencing southern pine beetle infestations that are severely affecting wooded areas near homes, businesses and other infrastructure. Approximately 178 infestations have been identified in Florida, 18 of which are in St. Johns County.

Atlantic Beach manager tells commission to vote on contract or work with him

Atlantic Beach City Manager Nelson Van Liere challenged the city commission Aug. 22 to either take a vote on his contract or work with him. His blunt challenge came hours after City Commissioner John Stinson told fellow commissioners Monday that he had no confidence in Van Liere.

Founder of Christian school in Kenya leads services in Atlantic Beach

Earth, Sea & Sky show features work by Joyce Gabiou
