Construction worker dies in Jacksonville Beach

A construction worker fell to his death Dec. 9 at a high-rise condominium complex in Jacksonville Beach. Paul E. Knight, 49, fell about 100 feet after falling from the 10th floor of the Pelican Pointe Condominiums at 1901 First Street North in Jacksonville Beach.

Hikers give new meaning to a 'walk on the beach'

Walking 10 miles a day for three straight days, even on our local beaches, is anything but a “baby” project. Friday, Dec. 11, a group of about 140 pilgrims left the Beaches History Chapel on a three-day Advent pilgrimage titled Baby Steps Camino, organized by the local Catholic Order of Malta.

School partners with grocer to provide food to USO Mayport

Montessori Tides School (MTS) and Native Sun Natural Foods Market worked together this year to help military families during the holidays. The MTS community raised about $1,300, and some of the school’s Elementary students shopped at the Native Sun store in Jacksonville Beach on Dec.

Volunteers wrap presents to raise funds for charity

Volunteers from the North Florida Chapter of Multiple Sclerosis and Big Banana bicycle team launched their annual free holiday gift wrapping program recently in South Jacksonville Beach. The service is open to Beaches area residents with packages from any store or online purchases.
