2023 Miss Fletcher Scholarship Pageant set for Friday

The 2023 Miss Fletcher Scholarship Pageant will present the Diamond Anniversary Show in the Fletcher Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. this Friday under the direction of Lynn Conover and Christin Norris.

Beaches Teachers of the Year honored

Oceanside Rotary honored all of the Teachers of the Year from the beaches area at a breakfast meeting Feb. 28. Each principal gave an introduction and relayed the teachers' accomplishments.

Exchange Club recognizes Students of the Month

On Feb. 27, the Beaches Exchange Club continued its tradition of recognizing and honoring outstanding young adults from two local high schools. Selected as February Students of the Month were Merritt Crowe, Hollis Lane, Grant Tucker and Katherine Wallace.

Joe Gerrity selected as Atlantic Beach interim city manager

Former Atlantic Beach City Manager Joe Gerrity will serve as interim city manager, effective March 13. He replaces Shane Corbin, who served five years on the job with the city of Atlantic Beach, including three years as city manager.

WJCT, Florida Theatre launching 'Untold Stories' radio show

WJCT Public Media, in partnership with The Florida Theatre, is presenting "Untold Stories," a new radio program that will also be published as a podcast at wjct.org/untoldstories and on all major podcast platforms. Episodes will air at 7 p.m. Sunday evenings in March on WJCT News 89.9 FM.

Mini Bar closes Jacksonville Beach location

The owners of a craft bakery known for its creative approach to small but tasty offerings shuttered its Jacksonville Beach location last weekend. Operating for the past five years in the Beaches Plaza Shopping Center, The Mini Bar closed its doors at 1300 Beach Blvd. for the last time Sunday.

NEFAHEC offering free programs

The Northeast Florida Area Health Education Center (NEFAHEC) is a non-profit organization that works in partnership with ElderSource and the Florida Department of Elder Affairs to improve the health and well-being of adults ages 60 and older.
