Police chief to serve as interim Neptune Beach city manager

Neptune Beach Police Chief Richard Pike will serve as interim city manager during the city’s vetting process for a permanent candidate. City officials voted unanimously to appoint Pike as interim city manager during a special Feb. 10 council meeting.

Oceanside Rotary welcomed the chief executive officer of the Jacksonville Aviation Authority, Mark D. VanLoh, A.A.E., as speaker during a recent meeting.

Social media video leads to arrests in Jacksonville Beach

Four men were arrested after posting a social media video that helped lead investigators to a local short-term rental property in Jacksonville Beach. Deshyh Beaufort, 19, was charged with possession of a firearm by a juvenile delinquent.

Public scoping meeting will present overview of St. Augustine storm risk study

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, will conduct a public scoping meeting Wednesday, Feb. 22, to present, discuss and gather public comment regarding its recently initiated planning for a city of St. Augustine Back Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) Feasibility Study.

Glenn takes first place in FMS Spelling Bee

Izabella Glenn won first place at the Duncan U. Fletcher Middle School Spelling Bee. She is one of 27 finalists for the 2023 Duval County Spelling Bee that will be held Feb. 23 at Samuel W. Wolfson High School.

Driving passes will be required on SJC beaches starting March 1

Beginning March 1, vehicles accessing St. Johns County driving beaches will be required to have a beach driving pass from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vehicles can access the beach at  A Street, Ocean Trace, Dondanville, Matanzas Avenue, Mary Street, Crescent Beach and Porpoise Point.
