What women need to know about stroke risks

It may not be widely known that women face unique risk factors for stroke throughout their lifetime. Things like pregnancy, preeclampsia and chronic stress can increase the risk for high blood pressure, a leading cause of stroke.

Dial-a-Ride services have expanded

Dial-a-Ride is a service for seniors at the Beaches and in its 48th year. It is a part of the Beaches Council on Aging, and is under the leadership of Lori Anderson. It is a frustration to her that there are still so many who are unaware of the service that Dial-a-Ride provides.

Beaches Museum announces new history exhibit

The Beaches Museum is opening a new history exhibit, "Wish You Were Here: Tourism at the World's Finest Beach" on March 3, with an Exhibit Opening Reception at 6 p.m. The exhibit explores the growth of the beaches.

Atlantic Beach Weed Wrangle is Saturday

The annual Weed Wrangle will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Howell Park in Atlantic Beach. Community volunteers are invited to help scour the park for air potatoes and other invasive species that may adversely affect the natural environment.

Seawalk Music Festival is this weekend in Jax Beach

The Community First Seawalk Music Festival is coming to Jacksonville Beach this weekend. The festival will be held from noon to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Seawalk Pavilion.
