Kingfish season is officially here

June on the First Coast means kingfish season is officially here. A few fish arrived early with the warm weather, but we’re now seeing the summer quality and quantity kings from the beaches out to the wrecks.

Fish license-free in Florida two weekends in June

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) invites residents and visitors to go fishing in Florida during two license-free weekends: June 4 and 5 for saltwater and June 11 and 12 for freshwater.

Fletcher Middle School wins baseball championship

The Fletcher Middle School Baseball Team, led by Coach McGiveron, swept past Springfield Middle School, 8-0, in the semi-finals en route to a 2-0 victory over Baldwin Middle School in the City Championship title game.

FMS Swim and Dive Team takes City Championship

The Fletcher Middle School Boys Swim and Dive Team was named City Champion May 14 at Cecil Aquatic Center. Team members took first place in four out of 13 individual events, and all four relay events. This year’s team members are G. Annis, R. Ashmore, S. Ayers, T. Bylund, C. Fretz,  E. Gregg,  D.

Florida Friendly Angler course is now live

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), UF/IFAS Extension and Florida Sea Grant have teamed up to develop the Florida Friendly Angler course.

All fishing options are on the table

The summer weather is heating up, and so is the fishing! These last few weeks have been excellent for First Coast anglers, and this weekend is looking like another great opportunity to get out on the water.
