Brock Healy wins JAGA First Coast Amateur

Kennesaw State University graduate student Brock Healy birdied three of the last five holes to overtake Norway’s Mats Ege and claim the seventh edition of the JAGA First Coast Amateur by one shot at Hidden Hills Golf Club. The Norcross, Ga.
Congratulations to Team High Premium, representing the First Coast at the Key West Kingfish Mayhem. Last week, the team took home the win with 56.85- and 35.5-pound fish. It’s looking like the nice weather we’re having will continue until some clouds Saturday, and a good chance of rain Sunday. We’ve had a couple of windows to get offshore the last week, and it’s looking good until Saturday; watch the forecast for the shift coming and swell building sometime Sunday.

Fletcher boys' basketball wins tournament

The Fletcher High School Boys' Varsity Basketball Team won the Jarvis Williams Basketball Tournament in Orlando. Fletcher defeated Dr. Phillips High School from Orlando in the first round, 62-46.

Jaguars take down Chargers, fall to Kansas City

The Jacksonville Jaguars, AFC South champions, defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 31-30 at home in the NFL wild card round Jan. 14. The Jaguars' fell to the Kansas City Chiefs Jan. 21 in the divisional round; the final score was 27-20.

FHS girls' basketball honors 'Solitary Senior'

On Jan. 5, the Fletcher High School Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team honored its "Solitary Senior," Dacie Watterson. Watterson received flowers and gifts from her teammates and Coach Wanda Ware. Watterson has been on the varsity team for four years and is a defensive player.

Last few weeks have had incredible triggerfish bite

It’s shaping up to be a cold weekend on the water, with our lows dipping back into the 30s for the nights and highs in the mid-50s all weekend. The wind forecast looks doable inshore. I’ll pass on offshore; anytime it’s blowing 15 out of the north is a no-thanks.
