Celebrate Halloween and fall with 'Spooktacular,' Beaches Town Center festival and more

The Atlantic Beach Arts Market, 1805 Mayport Road, Atlantic Beach, will offer Halloween wine glass painting Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $45. Call 904-372-7442 for information. The Beaches Town Center Fall Festival & Costume Contest will be held Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Inshore fishing heats up, offshore fishing is wide open

It’s been a cool start to fall, with air and water temperatures plummeting over the last few weeks to levels we don’t normally see until later in the year. Inshore, the fishing has only been heating up, and offshore, it’s wide open when we get opportunities to go.

Fletcher High School hires Lauren Chase as girls soccer coach

Fletcher High School has hired Lauren Chase as head coach of the Fletcher Girls Soccer Program. Chase served as assistant coach last season under Bradley Plummer. Chase also has experience as a volunteer coach and was a long-time soccer player in the area.

Nights of Lights returning to St. Augustine

For the past thirty years, St. Augustine has marked the Saturday before Thanksgiving with Light Up! Night. During the annual Nights of Lights, millions of white lights come to life and illuminate the historic architecture of the nation’s oldest city.

As waters cool down, fishing heats up

Fall has arrived on the First Coast, with our thermometers dipping into lows not seen since spring. The weekend brought sunny skies and light breezes. We finally got a window to go off shore after what felt like a month of wind and swell. The fish were fired up for the boats that made the trip Oct.

Fletcher defeats Ed White, Englewood

Dance party, 'Spooktacular,' Cosmic Concerts and more coming for fall and Halloween

A "Monster Mash Dance Party" will be held Friday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. for children in kindergarten through sixth grade at the Ketterlinus Gymnasium, 60 Orange St., St. Augustine. The cost is $5. There will be pizza, games, a dance and a haunted house. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.

FHS swim, diving teams take first

The Fletcher High School boys swim team, girls swim team and diving team each took first place at the Gateway Conference Championship recently.
