FWC announces new Saltwater Fishing Record categories for 2024

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s (FWC's) Division of Marine Fisheries Management and its saltwater angler recognition program, Catch a Florida Memory, will begin accepting applications for three new record categories starting Jan. 1, 2024.

Deck The Chairs open at Jax Beach

Deck The Chairs is open at Latham Plaza and the Seawalk Pavilion in Jacksonville Beach. Admission is free. The exhibit is handicap-accessible, and dogs on leashes are allowed. The annual holiday exhibit is on display through New Year's Day. Visit deckthechairs.org for information.

Beaches Luminaria 2023 set for Dec. 23

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty recently announced Luminaria 2023 will be held Saturday, Dec. 23 (rain date Dec. 24), in Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach. Communities in Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine and Fleming Island are also planning Luminaria events.

St. Johns County closing Fort Matanzas Beach Access Ramp

On Monday, Nov. 13, St. Johns County will temporarily close the Fort Matanzas Beach Access Ramp for public safety as crews begin work on the next phase of the FEMA Dune Enhancement Project. The ramp’s closure is anticipated to last about three weeks, weather permitting.
