Tarpon fishing has been hot near the beach

Inshore fishermen and women are still finding the red drum are hungry and ready for a fight. We recently had slightly higher than usual tides in the evenings. This gave anglers a chance to work the spartina grass and oyster beds looking for a trophy catch in the shallows.

Jacksonville RollerGirls host doubleheader event

Saturday night at the Mandarin Skate Station will feature two of the six Jacksonville RollerGirls’ teams. The all-star team #7 New Jax City Rollers will take on the #35 all-star team of the Detroit Derby Girls, and the River City Rat Pack will face the Gold Coast Derby Girls of Ft. Lauderdale.

Beach bars take part in A1A Cocktail Trail

The Florida Department of Citrus (FDOC), St. Augustine Distillery, and the St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra & The Beaches Visitors and Convention Bureau (VCB) have created a trail of bars and restaurants that serve up original cocktails featuring farm-fresh Florida citrus and spirits from the St.

Rudder recovered from Vilano shoreline on display at GTM Education Center

An old ship rudder received by the Guana Tolomato Matanzas (GTM) National Estuarine Research Reserve from the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Maritime Museum is now on display at the GTM's Environmental Education Center.

Greater amberjack reopens to recreational harvest in Gulf waters Aug. 1
