Death investigation turned over to St. Johns Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit

An early morning investigation Sunday into what was initially believed to be a fatal hit-and-run on A1A has been turned over to the Major Crimes Unit with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. Police responded to a report of a body found alongside the roadway just south of J. Turner Butler Blvd.

Group working to bring music back to SeaWalk Pavilion

Annual Run with a Mission set for Feb. 27

The 8th Annual Faithful Servant Missions Run with a Mission 5k, 10k and one-mile fun run will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, at 8:30 a.m. through the Nocatee Greenway Trails. Presented by Happy Trails 4x4, this race helps support programs of Faithful Servant Missions in Costa Rica.

Cold night shelter opens at Oceanside Christian Church

Responding to reports of an overnight freeze warning, volunteers rushed to open the cold night shelter Tuesday at Oceanside Christian Church. The west Atlantic Beach church made the decision to open its doors as temperatures were expected to dip below 40 degrees.

Overcoming the mask

It can be challenging to communicate through masks, six feet of social distance, physical barriers and other factors due to COVID-19 that have changed daily life. For people with hearing loss, this is an especially challenging time.
