Local students win at virtual debates

More than 200 students from the Northeast, Central and Gulf Coast Florida regions of the Florida Civics and Debate Initiative regions competed in debate as part of a series of competitions.

Atlantic Beach updates fence permitting process

The city of Atlantic Beach receives more than 100 residential fence permits annually. To efficiently serve this high-demand permit type, the city is now offering homeowners and contractors a faster and easier way to apply for permits for residential fence permits that are not associated with pools.

2021's Springing the Blues canceled

Downtown Vision announces Jax River Jams Concert Series

Downtown Vision, Downtown Jacksonville’s non-profit Business Improvement District, recently announced the Jax River Jams Concert Series, a free four-week, multi-genre Thursday night concert series to be held on the St. Johns Riverfront in Downtown Jacksonville in April.

Mussallem Beachfront Park now open

Mussallem Beachfront Park, 3365 Coastal Highway in eastern St. Johns County, is now open for public use. Acquired through a grant with the Florida Communities Trust, this 8.5-acre property is a frequent nesting location for sea turtles and has healthy beach dunes.

Girl Scouts send Valentine's Day cards to nursing home

Girl Scout Troop 64002 organized a community service project to send Valentine’s Day cards to every resident of Avante Villa Nursing Home. The troop of thirteen 2nd and 3rd graders made 115 Valentine’s Cards with handwritten messages.
