Crane operator helps rebuild Jacksonville Beach pier

Every morning, Sandy Vann makes the hour-long journey from her Brunswick, Georgia, home to the Jacksonville Beach oceanfront.

Summer Camps

• August freshwater fish camp will be offered through St. Johns County Parks and Recreation in August. Registration is now available for the educational, week-long summer camp designed to teach children freshwater fishing skills and boater safety. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 2 through Aug.

May 16-22 proclaimed as Water Reuse Week

To promote and encourage efficient use of reclaimed water, the St. Johns River Water Management District’s Governing Board on May 11 approved a resolution proclaiming May 16 through 22 as Water Reuse Week.

Dune-protection project moving forward in Jacksonville Beach

A community project designed by students to protect the dune system is moving ahead in portions of Jacksonville Beach. City officials May 10 reviewed the proposed plan to install PVC pipes and nylon ropes in high traffic areas from 2nd Avenue South to 8th Avenue North.

On May 18, the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association (FRLA) Northeast Chapter will host recruiting events that will allow future hospitality employees to connect with restaurants and hotels near them. This event aims to fill a variety of positions ranging from entry-level to management.

For the fifth consecutive time, Baptist Medical Center Beaches received an "A" rating in the spring 2021 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, a national distinction recognizing achievements in providing the safest health care for patients.
