Book, CD and DVD sale Saturday at Beaches Library

A pop-up Book Sale will be held Saturday, May 8, from 1 to 4 p.m. The sale will feature used paperbacks, music CDs and movie DVDs, along with a large selection of hardcover books. The sale will be held at the Beaches Branch Library, 600 Third Street in Neptune Beach.

CCPVB has new community connections manager

Callie Johnson has accepted the position of community connections manager at the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach, assuming the role April 19. Johnson has previous work experience in communication and the nonprofit sector as a board member of a St. Augustine based nonprofit, Team A.Maise, Inc.

Neptune Beach receives grant to assist with senior center

Neptune Beach was awarded a $75,000 grant from the city of Jacksonville to offset the remaining construction costs for the new Senior Activity Center. “We received all $75,000 that we had requested. It’s all earmarked for the Senior Center in its entirety so that’s really good news.

Day of Prayer drive-in event to be held at Church of Our Savior

Church of Our Savior’s Trail Life USA Troop FL-0316 boys and American Heritage Girls Troop 3160 will hold a National Day of Prayer drive-in event Thursday, May 6, from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. for the free event.

Golf fund-raiser to support Beaches Habitat

Beaches Habitat for Humanity announced Larry and Nancy Huang as the title sponsor for the 22nd annual Builders Classic Golf Tournament. The event will be held on Monday, May 3, at the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.

Suspicious package found at Jacksonville Beach City Hall

Jacksonville Beach Police are investigating a suspicious package left Wednesday near an entrance to City Hall. According to Jacksonville Beach Police Chief Gene Paul Smith, the small package was discovered around 6:45 a.m. in the door handle leading into the building.
