Devilish comedy 'Hand to God' brings puppets to Players by the Sea

"Hand to God," an edgy and irreverent puppet comedy by Robert Askins, opened Nov. 4 at Players by the Sea. Nominated for five Tony awards for its Broadway run, the show takes place in a church basement in Cypress, Texas, where a group of high school students is preparing for a puppetry show.

5K run/walk to benefit Epilepsy Foundation of Florida

The Seizure Smart Talk 5K Run/Walk, in benefit of the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida (EFOF), will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, at Lake Asbury Jr. High & Elementary Schools (2851 Sanridge Road, Green Cove Springs). Early registration will begin at 7 a.m., with the run/walk officially beginning at 8 a.m.

Coyote seen in Neptune Beach

The Neptune Beach Police Department warned residents this week that an adult coyote was observed in the city by officers early Monday morning.

FEMA offering assistance to St. Johns County individuals

Homeowners, renters and business owners in St. Johns County may apply for federal disaster assistance for uninsured and under-insured damages and losses resulting from Hurricane Matthew. FEMA announced St. Johns as one of four counties statewide to be designated for individual assistance.

Former Jacksonville Beach police chief still solving crimes

Four years after he retired from the Jacksonville Beach Police Department where he was the chief of police, Bruce Thomason is still up to his neck in crime. Using his 45 years in law enforcement and all it entailed, Thomason has written three fiction books in the thriller/suspense category.
