The three Beaches mayors, along with residents, have written in to offer comments and viewpoints on Hurricane Matthew and the resulting responses to the storm. See the Opinion pages in your e-Edition to read the letters and columns.

20th Annual MagnoliaFest canceled

The St. Augustine Amphitheatre has announced that the 20th Annual MagnoliaFest event, originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 15, has been canceled due to the effects of Hurricane Matthew. Consequently, the Official After Party at the Elks Lodge has also been canceled.

Beaches Oktoberfest is this weekend

The Third Annual Beaches Oktoberfest is coming to the Seawalk Pavilion Friday, Oct. 14, through Sunday, Oct. 16.

Hurricane Matthew taught valuable landscaping lessons

Beaches still working to bounce back after storm

Cradle Creek closed indefinitely Jacksonville Beach announced that Cradle Creek Preserve, located on the corner of 15th Street and Fairway Lane, will be closed indefinitely due to damage sustained from the hurricane.

Candidate forums upcoming

Due to Hurricane Matthew, the date of the Neptune Beach Mayoral Candidate Forum has been moved to Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. in Neptune Beach City Hall. The forum, which is open to the public, will give voters the opportunity to meet the candidates and learn about their platforms prior to the Nov.

Hurricane Matthew damages Beaches communities

Hurricane Matthew downed trees, fences and roofs throughout the Beaches Oct. 7, washed out many dunes and flooded roads as well as some properties, but most officials agreed afterward that the community came through better than had been anticipated. Florida Gov.

Bark-tober Fest set for Oct. 15

“Bark-tober Fest,” a Jacksonville Beach Lions Club event to support Guiding Eyes guide dog school, will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at American Legion Post 129, 1151 4th St. S., Jacksonville Beach.
