Jacksonville Beach alcohol sales to be suspended

As ordered by the mayor and authorized by city ordinance, the city of Jacksonville Beach is ordering all alcohol sales within the city limits be suspended as of Thursday, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m., until Saturday, Oct, 8, at 6 a.m.

Curfew ordered for Jacksonville Beach

As ordered by the mayor and authorized by city ordinance, the city of Jacksonville Beach is ordering a curfew put in effect at 10:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 6, 2016, expiring Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 6:00 a.m. This order may be extended due to further storm related circumstances.

Mandatory evacuation for Jacksonville Beach

Jacksonville Beach is under a mandatory evacuation notice for Thursday and Friday (10/6/16 and 10/7/16) due to Hurricane Matthew. Finalize and implement your evacuation plan.  During the storm, public safety and utility personnel may not be available.

St. Johns County suspends sandbag distribution

St. Johns County has suspended sandbag distribution at all locations at this time. For more information, call the St. Johns County Citizen Information Line at 904-824-5550.

Orange Park Mall, Westland Park Plaza to close

Orange Park Mall and Westland Park Plaza will close at 3 p.m., today, Thursday, Oct. 6, in preparation for the threat of bad weather posed by Hurricane Matthew. The retail centers will remain closed on Friday, October 7. Saturday opening will be determined by weather conditions.

With Hurricane Matthew roaring up the coast of Florida, as well as Georgia and South Carolina, I want to remind our Navy families to monitor the storm and keep safety as your highest priority. The storm conditions continue to worsen and pose significant risk to life and safety.

St. Johns County opens additional emergency shelters 

St. Johns County has opened four additional shelters and continues to monitor shelter capacity. The following facilities are currently the only open shelters (note that the Pedro Menendez shelter is currently at capacity):  • Pacetti Bay Middle School, 245 Meadowlark Ln.

Armada-Indy match postponed amid Hurricane Matthew concerns

The North American Soccer League (NASL) has postponed the Jacksonville Armada-Indy Eleven match that was scheduled to be played at Community First Park in Jacksonville on Saturday night because of the impending weather concerns caused by Hurricane Matthew, the league office announced Wednesday.
