Arrest made in fatal traffic crash

On July 11 at 11:52 p.m., Jacksonville Beach police officers responded to a traffic fatality on 2nd Street North in Jacksonville Beach. The investigation revealed that Joshua Lovingood was traveling south on 2nd Street North at a high rate of speed, well over twice the speed limit.

Community Presbyterian Church has new head pastor

Community Presbyterian Church, Atlantic Beach, has called the Rev. Melanie Marsh Baum as its new head pastor. She will lead this church community into a new era for this well-established Beach church. Her  call comes after the retirement of Community Presbyterian’s longtime pastor, the Rev.

Atlantic Beach police volunteers honored

Since the Atlantic Beach Citizens Police Academy was introduced in 2014, it was apparent that there was not only a need for a volunteer program, but a strong desire by some residents to participate. Initiated in 2018, the Police Department volunteer program now has 37 participants.

If you’ve ever attended an event at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall (PVCH), you’ve probably been greeted by at least one of the volunteers who help staff the events. They wear black T-shirts with the logo emblazoned on the front, a name tag hanging around their neck and a smile of welcome.

Paid parking starts at Beaches Town Center

The pay-for-parking program at Beaches Town Center begins with a soft launch Thursday, Oct. 17, and enforcement begins Oct. 28. The North Beaches Pilot Parking Management Program is a public-private partnership between the cities of Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach.

Atlantic Beach adopts paid parking

Atlantic Beach has approved a pilot paid parking program that calls for no parking in the city’s public spaces between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. The limit on the early morning parking was just one element of the plan that sets fees for use of public parking spaces in the area.
