Lions Club assists hurricane victims

The Jacksonville Beaches Lions Club assisted the High Springs Lions Club to get much needed aid delivered to the storm-ravaged Bahamas.
In the wake of Hurricane Dorian, High Springs Lions collected a trailer-full of goods to help their brothers and sisters in need, but soon found themselves with an abundance of aid and no means to get it to the Bahamas. High Springs Club President Lanier Smith sent pleas to other clubs in the district to help their club get these supplies to where they could do the most good.
Jacksonville Beach Lion Pat Schaaf heard the call to serve and reached out to her pastor, Chris Hopkins, at First Christian Church of the Beaches in Neptune Beach. Their church had already contracted a truck to deliver supplies donated by the congregation and welcomed the addition of the High Springs Lions’ donations. Volunteers from both Lions Clubs spent the afternoon transferring the supplies into the truck bound for the Bahamas.
