Detox facility rejected by Jacksonville Beach

A request to allow a 24-bed detoxification facility in a former medical office at 340 16th Ave. S. was unanimously rejected by the Jacksonville Beach Planning Commission Monday. Neighbors objected to granting conditional use approval to the project, citing its proximity to Fletcher Middle School.

Clare Dunn performs in Ponte Vedra Friday

MCA Nashville singer-songwriter Clare Dunn is scheduled to perform at Cornerstone Park on May 13. The concert is one of the many stops on Dunn’s tour. In addition to Dunn, “Fix” singer Chris Lane and rising country artist Nate Moran are also on the bill.  Doors open at 6 p.m.

Hearing on Gate station could run for hours

The Atlantic Beach City Commission is holding a public hearing today to hear the appeals of Site Development Plan Approval for the proposed Gate Petroleum on Atlantic Boulevard.  The meeting began at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Community Presbyterian Church, located at 150 Sherry Dr.

St. Johns County will host its annual hurricane exercise for Emergency Support Functions (ESF), Hurricane Menendez Functional Exercise, on Thursday, June 9, at the St. Johns County Emergency Operations Center.
