Jax Beach considers uses for vacant property

Jacksonville Beach officials are seeking input regarding the future use for a vacant parcel of city-owned property in the Redevelopment District. The Community Redevelopment Agency purchased the vacant property at 128 4th Ave. N. across from the city's Downtown CAPE public parking lot in 2008.

Nightly closures of Mayport Road flyover planned

The Florida Department of Transportation has scheduled nightly closures of the Mayport Road flyover at Atlantic Boulevard starting Nov. 17 from 8:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. These nightly closures will happen for about two weeks.

City officials are considering expanded boundaries for food truck operations in Jacksonville Beach. During recent discussions, the City Council considered proposed plans to allow food trucks, or “mobile food dispensing vehicles,” into residential areas under limited conditions.

On Oct. 21, Jacksonville Beach officials approved revisions to the city’s special events policy that limit the number of annual festivals, and tighten restrictions on both ticketed and unauthorized events.
