SJC Board of County Commissioners elects new chair, vice chair

On Nov. 19, during a special reorganizational meeting, the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) elected Krista Joseph, District 4, to serve as chair, and Clay Murphy, District 3, to serve as vice chair. Each will serve one-year terms in those roles.

Local surfer Joe Roland dies

A prolific member of the surfing community died recently doing what he loved to do most. Joe Roland, 74, passed away Nov. 7 while surfing his home break in the 400 block of Ponte Vedra Boulevard. He was discovered at approximately 8 a.m. on the shore with his surfboard still attached to his ankle.
