St. Johns County launches first phase of reopening

In consideration of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Executive Order 20-112 outlining Florida’s plan for recovery, St. Johns County is launching a phased reopening approach in collaboration with the city of St. Augustine, the city of St. Augustine Beach, and local health care and law enforcement agencies.

All restrictions on beaches lifted

On May 5, Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry announced that effective May 6, all restrictions on the beach will be lifted. However, social distancing guidelines still apply. Beachgoers are advised to continue to remain six feet apart from other groups and keep group sizes to below 10 people.

SJC reduces building fees to help businesses recover

In order to help local businesses recover faster from the COVID-19 health emergency, the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners approved a 30 percent reduction to building services fees, fire plan review fees and development review fees. These reductions are effective through Aug., 4.
