Shooter in Jacksonville Beach murder facing up to 40 years

The assailant in a fatal shooting last year in Jacksonville Beach could spend up to 40 years behind bars. On Sept. 19, Akiyah Denise Price, 28, of Jacksonville, pled guilty to second-degree murder. She will be sentenced at her Dec. 20 hearing. Price was arrested in the early morning hours of Sept.

Body of missing 15-year-old recovered in Ponte Vedra Beach

The body of a 15-year-old boy who went missing in rough surf Saturday was recovered Sept. 23 in Ponte Vedra Beach. The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and Jacksonville Beach Police Department were at the scene of the discovery near Ponte Vedra Boulevard.

Ahern Street beach access closes for renovations

Beginning this week, the Ahern Street beach access will be closed for approximately six months to accommodate renovations to the Atlantic Beach lifeguard station.

St. Johns County schools closed Friday
