Snook reopens for recreational harvest Feb. 1 in Florida’s Atlantic coastal and inland waters (from the Miami-Dade/Monroe county line north), including Lake Okeechobee and the Kissimmee River. Snook are one of the many reasons Florida is the Fishing Capital of the World.

Nease’s NJROTC program reached a new level in program history recently when its air rifle team placed second at the NJROTC Area-12 Air Rifle Championships in Anniston, Ala., where the top two schools move on to national championships.

The Museum of Science & History (MOSH) today announced its newest traveling exhibition, Playing With Light, presented by Imagine Exhibitions. The exhibition opens Jan. 30 and will run through April 24.

Ty Gingerich captures JAGA First Coast Amateur

Ty Gingerich played in the Jacksonville Area Golf Association’s inaugural First Coast Amateur as a 16-year-old in 2017 and has made it a point to return every year since. Now 21, the Indiana native’s persistence paid off Jan.

Stuart Young made a hole-in-one on the ninth hole at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Course Dec. 24. Young last made a hole-in-one in high school when he was on the golf team in 1964.

Fletcher soccer player makes an impact

The Fletcher High School girls soccer team is 7-3-2 and headed into the Gateway Conference as one of the top four teams. The leading scorer, Sarah Christiansen, is a junior at FHS and an international exchange student from Denmark. She has scored 13 of the Lady Senators' 29 goals this season.
