Atlantic Beach patrol sergeant receives DAR award

The Jean Ribault Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently presented Atlantic Beach patrol Sgt. Lenny Jevic with its 2015 Public Servant Armed Forces Award.

Meeting on preserve appeal is delayed

The procedural clarification for the Ponte Vedra Preserve appeal that was scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 19, will be continued to a later date due to the lack of a full board being present.

Hospitality group welcomes chance to promote 'all things happening at the Beaches'

Last week marked 20 years since the Beaches Hospitality Network (BHN) became an incorporated organization in an effort to garner support for the local hospitality community.

Beaches Baptist earns award

Baptist Medical Center Beaches has received the 2016 Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s best hospitals for obstetrics.

'Celebrate Art 2016' continues at Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach

“Celebrate Art 2016,” a juried artist member exhibition, featuring the work of more than 60 artists, is on exhibit until Feb. 18 at the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach, 50 Executive Way. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

'Mermaid Magic V' on exhibit

“Mermaid Magic V” is on exhibit through April 5 at First Street Gallery in Neptune Beach. Local artists Linda Olsen, Susan Fitzgerald, and Cheryl Wencel are just a few of the artists represented in this mermaid-themed show of paintings, photography, ceramics, metal, jewelry and soft sculptures.

Home sales at Beaches set pace not seen since 2006

The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors (NEFAR) is calling 2015 a “banner year” as northeast Florida saw the largest number of home sales since 2006. The statistics come from NEFAR’s 2015 annual report of the northeast Florida housing market.

Hazardous waste collection is Saturday

Jacksonville Beach will host a hazardous waste and e-waste mobile collection event on Saturday, Jan. 23, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Jacksonville Beach Operations and Maintenance Facility, located at 1460 Shetter Ave. The event is open to all Duval County residents with proof of residency.
