Beaches lawyer-musician named top businessman by Jacksonville chamber

John Miller, founder and owner of Rock Solid Business Law PLLC in Jacksonville Beach, has been named the 2016 overall JAX Chamber Small Business Leader of the Year. "Small business is the life blood of commerce in our community," said Daniel Davis, JAX Chamber President.

New BEAM thrift store open at 7North

The waiting is over. The new BEAM Thrift Store has opened in Jacksonville Beach at the site of the old Post Office, now named 7North. With state-of-the-art merchandising, this store is complete with display windows, a book nook with comfortable chairs, and movable displays of current items.

Players by the Sea celebrates anniversary

The Beaches Museum and History Park will present a spring history exhibit featuring a retrospective of the past 50 years of Players by the Sea and a look toward the future. Players by the Sea has worked to enrich the community through excellence in theater since 1966.

New restaurants open

The new Safe Harbor Seafood Restaurant opened its doors at its new location at 2510 2nd Ave. N. in Jacksonville Beach. County officials said work is planned to improve drainage on the road near the restaurant, which is located one block from a county boat ramp.

2015 marks record year for shark attacks

Last year’s reported 98 unprovoked shark attacks worldwide set a new record for most shark attacks in a single year, beating the previous record set in 2000 by 10, with Florida seeing the most attacks in the United States.

Baptist Medical Center focuses on older patients

Baptist Medical Center Beaches staff announced that it is the first hospital in the region to open a unit specifically designed to meet the needs of older patients.
