Beaches Sexual Assault Awareness Campaign to bring information

The three Beaches mayors rendezvoused recently to recognize the importance of sexual assault awareness, and educating residents and visitors on how to prevent sexual assault before it happens.

Beaches Green Market moving to Penman Park

The Beaches Green Market is planting new roots in Jacksonville Beach. Beginning April 10, Dig Local will cultivate a new market at Penman Park, located at 321 Penman Road just south of the Coast Guard building.

Orange Crush Festival planned for Jacksonville Beach

A beach festival is heading to Jacksonville Beach this summer. The Orange Crush Festival is planned for June 18 through 20. Promoters bill the event as the “biggest beach festival weekend in the country” with a festival, pool party, block party, car and bike show, and photography expo.

Sandcastle Contest to be virtual

For more than 50 years, the annual Sandcastle Contest co-sponsored by The Beaches Leader and city of Jacksonville Beach was a rite of spring that helped to mark the official Opening of the Beaches.

Easter Sunrise Worship Service returns

The Easter Sunrise Service at the Seawalk Pavilion will be back this year. This worship service, an annual event provided by the Beaches Ministerial Association (BMA), had to be cancelled last year due to the pandemic shut down. This Easter tradition comes back with COVID precautions added.

St. Johns County posts Good Friday holiday hours

All departments of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, St. Johns County Administrative offices, the Pet Center, the Supervisor of Elections’ office, the Clerk of Courts’ office and the Property Appraiser’s office will be closed Friday, April 2, in observance of Good Friday.

Beach cities hosting egg hunts

Atlantic Beach’s annual community Egg Hunt will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 3, at Jordan Park, 1671 Francis Ave. Along with the egg hunt, the city’s Recreation Department is planning a special visit from “Bunny.” The event is free and the community is invited.
