Salvation Army receives $5,000

Veteran's walk across United States raises awareness for PTSD

Walking across the country to raise awareness for PTSD, U.S. Army veteran Stephen Meyers spent a great deal of time remembering his grandfather Karhl DeSoto, who walked 10 miles a day until his 100th birthday.

Beaches Kiwanis Club makes donation to schools

On March 29, the Beaches Kiwanis Club presented the principals of Mayport and Finegan Elementary schools with checks for $1,730. These two schools are no strangers to the club as many members are retired teachers.

Trixie looking for 'furever' home

A kind donor has sponsored Trixie’s adoption fee, which means she will go to a good home without the adoption fee being charged. Trixie is a beautiful tabby and white 10-year-old girl who recently lost her owner. No one in the family wanted her, and Mayport Cats stepped in to rescue her.

Gamble Rogers names Outstanding Team of 2

Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach & North Peninsula State Park recently announced Tom and Lynn Maize as the winners of the 2020 Outstanding Team of 2 Award for Resource Management for their contributions removing invasive plants at Gamble Rogers State Park.

Sea oats planted on oceanfront

The Fletcher Marine Coastal Club, Beaches Watch and Interact Club planted 3,500 sea oats on the oceanfront at the Margaritaville Hotel. The sea oats were donated by Clean Jax and The Land trust.
