65-foot-tall hotel proposed in Jacksonville Beach

A 65-foot-tall mixed use structure planned for 704 1st St. N. in Jacksonville Beach received approval of its rezoning application Monday by the Community Redevelopment Agency. Final approval of the request will now be up to the Jacksonville Beach City Council next month.

Garden trumpet tree is a herald of spring

What better way to herald in spring than with the beautiful spring blossoms of a trumpet tree? The scientific name is Tabeuia caraiba. Another cultivar of this tree is Tabebuia aurea, sometimes called silver leaf trumpet tree because the leaves appear silver.

Holiday to close some offices

All departments of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, St. Johns County Administration offices and the Pet Center will be closed Friday, March 25 in observance of Good Friday. St. Johns County library branches will be closed March 25 and March 26.
