Spiny lobster season closes

The spiny lobster recreational and commercial seasons closed to harvest in state and federal waters starting April 1; they will reopen Aug. 6. The two-day recreational sport season is the last consecutive Wednesday and Thursday of July, which is July 24 and 25 this year. Learn more at MyFWC.

KATE KUP tennis tournament set for April 20

The fifth annual KATE KUP Triples Tennis Tournament will be held Saturday, April 20, at The Yards in Sawgrass. All proceeds from this event will benefit the continued mission of the Kate Amato Foundation to find safer and more effective treatments for pediatric cancer.

FHS band marches in New York City

The Duncan U. Fletcher High School Band and Chorus performed in the 263rd St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City March 16. A grant from the Jacksonville Beaches Women’s Club helped the group reach its fundraising goal.

Little cool down shouldn’t have much effect on fishing
