Traffic cameras planned for Neptune Beach school zones

Neptune Beach is working to curb speeding in school zones. On Feb. 20, the City Council approved on its first reading a plan to install traffic cameras to capture drivers traveling over the 15-mile-per-hour speed limit.

Miss Fletcher Scholarship Pageant set for Friday evening

Fletcher High School's 61st Annual Miss Fletcher Scholarship Pageant will be held Friday, March 1, at 6:30 p.m. The event, directed by Kelly Salls and Toni Wortherly, will be held at the school auditorium.

FHS Band, Chorus to march in NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade

The Fletcher High School Band and Chorus will travel to New York City to march in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in March. A grant from the Jacksonville Beaches Women’s Club helped the group reach its fundraising goal.

St. Johns County to relocate historic Canright House

On Feb. 20, the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) voted unanimously to relocate the historic beach cottage known as the “Canright House” from 5480 Atlantic View to Collier-Blocker-Puryear Park, 10 N. Holmes Blvd., St. Augustine.

The Jacksonville District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) began equipment mobilization Feb. 22 for the re-nourishment of the St. Johns County, St. Augustine Beach, federal shore protection project.

Kevin Brown named 'Friend of the Beaches'

The Beaches Watch Board of Directors recently selected Kevin Brown as the “2024 Friend of the Beaches” award recipient. Brown will be recognized at the Beaches Watch 20th Anniversary Celebration Wednesday, March 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Beach Diner, 501 Atlantic Blvd., Atlantic Beach.

St. Johns County set to begin Ponte Vedra Beach Restoration Project

St. Johns County is set to begin the $38.6 million Ponte Vedra Beach Restoration Project. The project, scheduled to begin in March, will restore storm-damaged dunes and berms to provide storm protection to upland infrastructure, with more than 2 million cubic yards of sand dredged in for the ocean.
