Sculpture being installed in Jacksonville Beach

A sculptural installation showcasing the elements of the ocean is underway at the corner of Beach Boulevard and 2nd Street South in Jacksonville Beach. Created by artist Xavier Cortada of South Florida, it was commissioned by the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency and City Council.

St. Johns County issues local state of emergency

St. Johns County issued a local state of emergency effective 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, in advance of potential storm conditions due to tropical activity currently south of Florida. This mirrors the declaration of a state of emergency issued by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Benefit for local family will be held Saturday at Lynch's Irish Pub

A non-profit organization established to raise funds for childhood cancer will benefit a local family this weekend in Jacksonville Beach. The 6th Annual Home Ability Store Fundraiser will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Lynch’s Irish Pub, 514 1st St. N.

Women's chorale accepting new members

The North Florida Women's Chorale is accepting new members for the fall season. Women who wish to apply may schedule an audition in August or September. The chorale rehearses on Mondays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Palms Church, 3410 3rd St., Jacksonville Beach. Rehearsals begin Sept.

Neptune Beach honors John Jolly with Trident Award

A veteran and former elected official was recently honored by the city of Neptune Beach for his years of public service in the community he calls home. John Jolly is the most recent recipient of the city’s Trident Award.

Beaches Honor Guard looking for volunteers

The Beaches Honor Guard is seeking to grow its membership to ensure veterans’ families are never turned away. U.S. Navy veteran John Poe serves as the executive director for the Beaches Honor Guard. He is also the bugler, a role he takes very seriously.

Episcopal School expanding location in Jacksonville Beach

The Episcopal School of Jacksonville campus is expanding its Jacksonville Beach location. On July 22, the Planning Commission unanimously approved a conditional use application to add a new two-story, 8,200-square-foot school building in coordination with the existing Episcopal School at 322 N.

Repairs planned for pier

Repairs are set to begin at the Jacksonville Beach pier to remove a build-up of sand beneath the entry ramp that is forcing the deck to shift. The city of Jacksonville will bring in equipment to excavate the sand and replace the uneven boards that have created a tripping hazard.
