Ponte Vedra girls lacrosse secures win

In what may be the final game of their season, the Ponte Vedra Lady Sharks Lacrosse Team (10-1) traveled to Orlando to take on the powerhouse Hornets of Bishop Moore High School (6-4). The game featured two of the strongest girls lacrosse programs in North Florida.
The Sharks came out with aggressive ball movement and patient defense. The ball movement of the Sharks saw them have a halftime lead of 7-4. In the second half, Bishop Moore came flying back and the team poured on the offense to tie the game up 10-10.
PV’s offense was led by the goal scoring of Pierson Schuchart (3 goals), Lexi Johnson (2 goals) and Trish Balser (2 goals). Katie Stout, Sami Lowinger, Megan Rolison and Tori Balser each added a goal.
PV’s strong defense of Sami Meyers, Olivia Parker and Eliza Lewin along with Lexie de Rozier’s 9 saves, kept the Lady Sharks close.
The final three minutes saw an intense offensive and defensive display by both teams. With one minute left, PV called time out to draw up one last play. As time wound down, Meagan Rolison took the ball behind Bishop Moore’s net and made a perfect pass to a streaking Trish Balser.  Balser put the ball in the back top of the net with 2 seconds left on the clock securing the PV win 11-10.
Ponte Vedra’s season is put on hold until March 30.
