2020 Bold City Showcase set for Aug. 22

The 2020 high school football season is set to kickoff in a big way with the third annual Bold City Showcase on Aug. 22.
Six teams from throughout Northeast Florida will open their seasons at Skinner-Barco Stadium, with the tripleheader starting at noon. The partnership between News4Jax and Airstream Ventures, through its High School 9:12 platform, will have all three games televised, starting with a one-hour pregame show at 11 a.m.
“As sporting events start to get back on the schedule, we are excited the Bold City Showcase will again be played to start the football season,” said Bob Ellis, vice president and general manager of WJXT Channel 4. “We're excited this year’s event will expand to feature teams from four counties in our area and provide each team with a first-class experience they'll never forget."
The noon game features Ribault facing off against Creekside in the Trojans’ first game under new head coach Marlon White. Creekside is looking to build off last season’s 5-5 finish that concluded with a win over district champion Ponte Vedra.
The second game kicks off at 3:30 p.m. with the battle of Clay County on the line, Orange Park taking on Oakleaf. The two rivals open their season again in a rematch of last year’s 42-21 victory by Oakleaf.
The final game will start at 7 p.m. as Bolles takes on West Nassau. The Bulldogs bounced back from a loss in thesShowcase last year to advance to the state championship game. West Nassau went 8-3 last season after being upset in the region semifinals.
VIP tickets are available for all three games for $45 each that include access to a cool zone shaded tent, meal and drinks. Admission for each game is $10 each, with student tickets available through each school two weeks prior to the games.
“When we started High School 9:12, our vision was to create platforms to showcase our local high school programs and we are proud to put this event together again this year,” said Alan Verlander, founder and CEO of Airstream Ventures. “Last year drew over 20,000 fans for the event and we are looking forward to showcasing some of our best high school talent once again.”
Tickets are on sale through JaxHighSchool912.com. Airstream Ventures, WJXT and The Bolles School will follow all COVID-19 guidance from local, state and national authorities to ensure the safety of the participants and fans.
