SIBLEY, III, BENJAMIN DANIEL

Benjamin Daniel Sibley, III, passed away June 23, 2016. He was born July 25, 1933 to Benjamin Daniel Sibley, Jr. and Dorothy Thomas Sibley in Charlottesville, Virginia where he attended McDuffie Elementary and Lane High School (Class of 1951). He also attended Virginia Military Institute and the University of Virginia having graduated in 1959 from the School of Mechanical Engineering and spent one year in the Master’s Program at the School of Engineering. 
Mr. Sibley spent two years in the U.S. Army during which time he earned medals for marksmanship. He was employed by General Foods at Maxwell House Coffee in Jacksonville, Florida for 12 years and worked with Junior Achievement and the Gator Bowl. In 1972, he went into business with his wife, Martha Ann Sibley, operating the Eastwinds Motel in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. He served on the Board of the Red Cross Lifeguards in Jacksonville Beach. He and Martha retired in 2001 eventually moving to New Smyrna Beach where they joined the Smyrna Yacht Club. He spent many years on the waters of the east coast serving as lifeguard in Virginia Beach during his high school and college years and later enjoying his boats, fishing and travelling.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Martha Ann Sibley; son, Benjamin Daniel Sibley, IV (Lorrie) of Winter Springs, Florida and their daughter, Danielle Lauren Sibley; and daughter, Martha Jane Sibley Covert (Michael) of San Diego, California and their children, Virginia Madison Langford and Julius Benjamin Covert. 
Funeral services were held Monday, June 27th at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd. Interment was in H. Warren Smith Cemetery, Jacksonville Beach.
