Sherry B. "Galyan" Fix, 53 of Jacksonville FL, passed away April 15, 2016 at her home under the care of Hospice and with her family. She had a long battle with breast cancer that had spread to her brain.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Thomas Fix and 2 sons Julion Fix (17) and James Fix (13) both living at home. She is also survived by her brother, Barry Galyan (Brenda) of Bloomington and several Nieces and Nephews. Sherry is also survived by her mother-in-law, ILSE Fix of Brunswick, Georgia; One sister-in-law, Susanne Fix (Scot Hines)  of Anchorage, Alaska; and two brothers-in-law, Michael Fix (Lynda) Centreville, Virginia and Rene Fix (Sarah) St. Augustine Florida.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents James S Galyan and Wanda F Galyan and her brother James Steven (Stevie) Galyan all of Bloomington, IN.
Sherry was born and raised in Bloomington, IN graduating from Bloomington North in 1981. She had graduated from Vincennes University with an associate’s degree and Purdue University with a degree in Interior Design. She met her husband while at Purdue. Sherry had been employed as a store manager with Kittles while living in West Virginia. She owned and operated a medical supply company while living in Pennsylvania with offices in Pittsburgh and Bloomington. Sherry had also held a Realtors license in Florida however her last 17 years was devoted to her family helping her husband with his practice and raising her boys.
Sherry had a spirited life and an infectious smile and laugh that drew people from all walks of life to her. She had many friends who attended and supported her throughout her entire battle with her cancer running with and for her in races in support of a cure for the disease. For that her family is eternally grateful.
Sherry wished to be cremated and will have a memorial service Saturday, May 7th at 2:00 p.m. at Beach Church, 325 7th Avenue North, Jacksonville Beach. The family would request that donations be made in remembrance of Sherry to the American Cancer Society. Sherry’s family also wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all who have cared for her during her illness.
