William A. Clingenpeel passed away on May 30, 2016. 
He is survived by his wife of 25 1/2 years, RoseMary; four children Cindy Hart (Joe), Billy, Mary Maida (Tom) and Anne Taylor; two step-children Rod Wiley (Jean) and Traci Fasanelli (Fabio, Sr.); and grandchildren John Hart, Hilah Hart, Brooke Clingenpeel, Michael MacNamara, Calla MacNamara, Matthew MacNamara, Caroline Taylor, Nicholas Taylor, Michael Wiley, Giovanna Fasanelli, Fabio Fasanelli, Jr., Gabriela Fasanelli, Bianca Fasanelli and Nicolo Fasanelli.
Bill was born on November 9, 1930, in College Park, Indiana.  Soon thereafter, he moved with his mother Ruth and sisters Betty and Mary to Lake Worth, Florida. In 1952, he graduated with an engineering degree from Purdue University where he was an All- America Diver and member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. Following graduation, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. While in the Navy, Bill enjoyed a distinguished career as a naval aviator attached to several fighter squadrons (including VF-14 “Top Hatters”), as well as the Navy’s test pilot program. Bill retired with the rank of Captain. Following his retirement from the Navy, he founded Clingenpeel Insurance Company, which emphasized aviation insurance.
Bill and RoseMary wed in 1990 and began their wonderful life together. They found great joy in their shared interests of family, friends, football and travel. Among their favorite memories were the adventures they encountered while traveling the country in their recreational vehicle. Bill leaves a legacy of love, integrity and patriotism.
The family will receive visitors at Hardage-Giddens Beaches Chapel on 1701 Beach Boulevard on Monday, June 6 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. A funeral mass was held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach on Tuesday, June 7 at 10:00 a.m. Burial followed with full military honors at 1:00 p.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
