The Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM) and St. Vincent de Paul are seeking donations to help ensure families in need don't go without a Thanksgiving meal. According to BEAM, 300 more Thanksgiving baskets are needed to meet the requests from families in the beaches communities.
“We’re just two weeks away from Thanksgiving, and if we don’t come together as a community now, families will go without,” said Jeff Winkler, executive director of BEAM. “By donating a basket or contributing to this effort, you're not just providing food, you’re offering families a chance to experience the joy and connection that the holiday is all about.”
BEAM and St. Vincent de Paul are asking the community to donate non-perishable food items or sponsor a Thanksgiving basket. Each basket includes traditional items like mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, canned vegetables, macaroni and cheese, and a $20 grocery gift card for the family to select their preferred main course, such as turkey or ham.
You can help by dropping off baskets at St. Paul’s Father Murphy Hall Nov. 18 through 20, or sponsoring a basket online at jaxbeam.org/thanksgiving.
Families in need can sign up at the same link to receive a basket and pick it up Nov. 21, 22, 23 or 25 at Father Murphy Hall in Jacksonville Beach.
