Publix to purchase Lucky's lease

Lucky’s Market in Neptune Beach closed its doors after recently announcing it would shutter all of its 21 Florida locations. Employees left messages of gratitude in the window thanking the Beaches community for the support. Many thanked the company for the experience working for the financially stricken grocery chain, some saying it was the best first job they could ever have.
Publix Supermarkets Inc., which is headquartered in Lakeland, is under contract to take over 11 of its Florida locations, including the store at 580 Atlantic Blvd. in Neptune Beach after the Colorado-based organic grocer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
“We are under contract to purchase five Lucky’s leases with locations in Clermont, Naples, Neptune Beach, Orlando and Ormond Beach. We are working through the process with the landlords of the five locations,” confirmed Publix Media & Community Relations Director Maria Brous. “We are currently in the due diligence process so there is no additional information to share at this time. Once contracts are finalized, we can share additional details.”
German discount grocer Aldi and Jacksonville-based Southeastern Grocers were also among those considering the shuttered Florida locations. Southeastern Grocers is the the parent company of Winn-Dixie and will acquire five of the Florida stores being closed by Lucky's Market in Naples, Fort Meyers, Gainesville, Lake Mary and Melbourne.
Former Lucky’s Market locations in Oakland Park, Sarasota, Vineland, Orlando, Venice and Coral Springs are under contract to become Aldi stores, according to a statement from Lucky’s.
