Irene Elizabeth Andreu, 86, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 after a brief illness. She was born on November 2, 1929 in Jacksonville Beach to Daniel R. Moore and Marjorie Purvis Moore. She was a 1947 graduate of Duncan U. Fletcher High School. During Irene’s school years she was in drama classes and on to become a winner in the Miss Jacksonville Beach Beauty Pageant. Irene enjoyed tap dancing for many years at the Mina D. Nelson dance company. During her formative years of her children she was a devoted football mom and band parent. Irene also enjoyed traveling on the Tiki to the Bahamas for many years with Charles. She was a volunteer with N. E. Florida Community Hospice spending many hours running their thrift shop. Irene was a member of the Mandarin Christian Church.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 45 years, Charles M. Andreu; a daughter, Barbara T. Miner (Mark); son, Harry T. Turner (Ann); 3 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and wonderful friends.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in the Chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. with Richard McEwen officiating.
The family received friends from 10 to 11 Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment was in Mandarin Cemetery at 2:00 pm Wednesday afternoon. Flowers are gratefully appreciated or in lieu of flowers please make memorials in her name to Community Hospice or your favorite charity.
