According to the city of Jacksonville Beach website, at midnight on Thursday, Feb. 16, water mains in Jacksonville Beach will be intermittently shut off until 4 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, within the following roadways:
• America Avenue between Sanctuary Parkway and Republic Drive;
• North Sanctuary Way between Jacksonville Drive and Westerly Dead end; and
• South Sanctuary Way between Jacksonville Drive and Westerly Dead end.
When water service is restored, customers may experience some discolored water. The discolored water is an accumulation of fine particles or scale that has settled out in the water service line over many years of use. The discolored water will clear up if customers run their bathtub or shower faucet for a few minutes. If there is a diminished amount of water coming out of faucets, unscrew, remove and clean out the strainers located at the end of the faucets.
