Congressman John Rutherford recognized Fleet Landing Korean War veterans with the South Korean Ambassador’s Peace Medal Aug. 14 at Fleet Landing.
Recipients of the award were Dr. Gene Alvarez, the late Charles Steck (his wife, Peggy, accepted his award), Duane St. John and Charles Williamson. The congressman attended a luncheon with the medal recipients and their families prior to the presentation.
After the awards presentation, Rutherford shared personal stories, and recent views and experiences in the current session of the House of Representatives. Prior to taking a few questions from residents, he discussed issues facing the nation.
