Pier entranceway plans presented

The proposed entranceway design for the Jacksonville Beach pier was presented to the city council July 15 by planners Dix Hite.
The plans were presented after councilors said last year they want a more welcoming entrance to the structure, noting the current fencing makes it look like an entrance to a jail. The entrance work will be done after repairs to the pier are made by the county, with work slated to start soon.
At the meeting, the city's planning director also presented a dozen possible options for building a parking garage downtown.
