Non-essential retail, commercial businesses ordered to close in Duval County

Effective 12:01 a.m. Friday, April 3, all non-essential retail and commercial businesses are ordered closed to their employees and members of the public per Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry in Executive Order 2020-5. These include those in the Beaches cities and Baldwin.
Under the order, the following retail and commercial businesses are some of the ones deemed essential businesses, and allowed to remain in operation:
• Healthcare providers.
• Grocery stores.
• Food cultivation including farming, livestock and fishing.
• Businesses that provide food, shelter, social services and other necessities of life for economically disadvantaged or otherwise needy individuals.
• Newspapers, television, radio and other media services.
• Gas stations; new and used automobile dealerships; and auto-supply, auto-repair, and related facilities.
• Banks and related financial institutions.
• Hardware stores.
• Contractors and service providers that help maintain building safety and sanitation.
• Businesses providing mailing and shipping services, including post office boxes.
• Private colleges, trade schools and technical colleges, but only as needed to facilitate online or distance learning.
• Laundromats, dry cleaners and laundry service providers.
• Restaurants and other facilities that prepare and serve food, subject to the limitations and requirements of Emergency Order 2020-1. Schools and other entities that typically provide free food services to students or members of the public on a pick-up and takeaway basis only.
• Airlines, taxis and other private transportation providers.
• Home-based care for seniors, adults or children.
• Assisted living facilities, nursing homes and adult day care centers, and senior residential facilities.
• Professional services.
• Landscape and pool care businesses.
• Childcare facilities providing services that enable employees exempted in this order to work as permitted so long as the facilities follow mandatory conditions.
• Businesses operating at government facilities.
• Pet supply stores.
• Logistics providers.
• Hotels, motels and other lodging establishments, subject to the requirements of Executive Order 2020-1.
• Sale of alcoholic beverages is authorized consistent with Executive Order 2020-1.
• Firearms and ammunition supply stores.
• Businesses providing services to any local, state or federal government.
Essential Businesses allowed to remain in operation shall continue to adhere to all other requirements set forth in previous issued orders and proclamations related to the COVID-19 situation.
