Jacksonville Beach has severed ties with an institution boasting a history that predates the city itself. Following an investigation by the Florida Department of Labor, City Manager Mike Staffopoulos notified members of the Red Cross Volunteer Life Saving Corps (VLSC) that the city would assume staffing the beachfront on Sundays and holidays with paid employees from Ocean Rescue.
