A joint sex-trafficking investigation netted the arrest of an individual believed to be part of a nationwide operation.
The FBI, plus Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach law enforcement, began the sting in June with the arrest of an unidentified suspect. On Friday, the investigation continued with an undercover agent posing as a customer responding to an advertisement posted on a prostitution website.
Jacksonville Beach Police Chief Gene Paul Smith said the covert investigation of the human trafficking showed more than four young women and one pimp were involved. A Jacksonville man was arrested Friday in a joint FBI and Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office sex-trafficking sting at a hotel in the 1100 block of Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville Beach, according to police. Smith said the hotel and its staff had nothing to do with the sex-trafficking operation and knew nothing about it.
Mario Demetrius Greene, 34, of Jacksonville was arrested on two charges each of human sex trafficking and deriving support from prostitution, plus possession of marijuana. He remains behind bars on $730,000 bail, Duval County jail records show.
