During COVID-19 disruptions, Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM) has assisted 102 households with emergency financial assistance for April rent payments, representing a 50 percent increase over the month of March.
Over the last week, BEAM has distributed more than 13 tons of food to BEAM pantries and local partners in need, transported groceries to seniors for home delivery, aided military families by providing baby food to the Jacksonville USO, and provided Finegan Elementary School families goods.
While BEAM is no longer accepting food donations, the organization is asking for assistance from the public by encouraging supporters to make a donation to the “Virtual Food Drive,” allowing BEAM to buy food in bulk and minimize personal contact. Also, the thrift stores and thrift donation drop-off area are closed until further notice.
