In honor of Women's History Month, the Neptune Beach Police Department (NBPD) salutes the three active-duty officers currently working for the agency.
Officer Camacho, currently assigned to the DUI Traffic Enforcement Unit, has been recognized by MADD for her efforts in combating impaired drivers. She also initiated the Pink Patch Project, which collected more than $2,000 for breast cancer researcher
Detective Cotner, currently assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division as a detective, holds a bachelor's degree in criminology from the University of South Florida and a master's degree in criminal justice from Columbia College.
Officer Cardwell, initially hired in 2018 as the agency's first female police reserve officer, was later hired full-time and is currently assigned to the Patrol Division.
The NBPD swore in its first female officer, the late Allison Campo Cook, in 1986. Cook later became the first female police sergeant while working with the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.
"Though her untimely recent passing was felt throughout this community, her legacy of breaking through barriers lives on," the NBPD said.
