Exchange Club honors Students of the Month

The Exchange Club of Jacksonville Beaches Student of the Month Award program has selected two seniors  each from Fletcher High School and Ponte Vedra High School as Students of the Month for February. Students selected from Fletcher are Carolina Sanchez and Connor Moore. Ponte Vedra High School recipients are Grace Littler and Joseph DePorre.
The recipients, along with students selected in January and March, will be finalists for the Student of the Year awards. The Exchange Club will present a monetary scholarship to a male and female Student of the Year from each high school.
Sanchez lives with her parents, Jesus and Jessica Sanchez, in Jacksonville. She is awaiting acceptance from the University of Florida with plans to major in computer science with the goal of being a business owner. She is a duel enrollment student with Embry-Riddle University and Florida State College at Jacksonivlle, and has a part 107 unmanned aircraft license.
Sanchez is bilingual and a member of the National Honor Society, as well as the Spanish, Math and Medical Honor Societies, and the Marine Coastal Club. She was captain of the Fletcher Varsity Women’s Soccer Team which made Florida state regional and quarterfinals each of the past four years, and was nominated for the 2019 All-Star Team.
Moore, the son of Paul and Michele Moore of Atlantic Beach, also awaits acceptance at the University of Florida. He plans to major in pre-biological science with the goal of becoming a cardiologist.
Moore is a two-year captain of Fletcher’s varsity boys soccer team, which has earned titles from conference to district and Florida State Championship second and third places. He was honored as “Billy Reynolds Most Valuable Defender,” All Gateway Conference team, the Florida Times Union All-Star Varsity Preps Team and United Soccer Coaches All-State Team, each for the past two seasons. He has been involved with the Armada Youth Football Club for the past 12 years.
Littler is the daughter of Richard and Jean Littler of Ponte Vedra Beach.
She has been accepted to Georgia Tech with plans to major in biological physics. She wants to do scientific research and perhaps be a professor.
Littler is a member of the National Honor Society and National Honors Societies for Math, Science, English and Social Studies, and is a National Merit Finalist. She has placed first in HOSA medical math and forensic science regional competitions, St. Johns County Science Fair Senior Biomedical/Cellular/Microbiology, and is a finalist in both the State of Florida Science Fair and the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair. She was named St. Johns County Sunshine State Scholar 2019.
While DePorre, son of Susan and Vince DePorre of Ponte Vedra Beach, has been accepted at Notre Dame, he has not made his final decision. He plans to major in biomedical sciences en route to becoming a physician.
His school honors include the National Honor Society, and National Honors Societies for Science, Hispanic, English, Math and Social Studies. He is senior class historian, and captain of the PVHS boys varsity basketball team. Other clubs are the High-Q Varsity and JV (district champs), past treasurer of the Young Republicans, officer in the Ultimate Frisbee Club, Investor Club and founding officer of the Ping Pong Club. Among his academic honors are National Merit Finalist, United States Presidential Scholars Candidate, superior rating in all categories by the Greater Jacksonville Music Federation, selection for the Duke Intensive STEM Academy, and the Gator Bowl Award of Excellence.
DePorre has been a Foster Care Brother to 12 foster siblings at home since 2013. He also involves them in service at BEAM, and Palms Assisted Living where he has volunteered for six years. He has also been a teen volunteer at Mayo Clinic and Baptist Beaches Hospital. DePorre has worked at Blue Water Grill and Sharky’s Burgers, and as an independent math tutor. His hobbies include the stock market, current events, music, travel, golf and fitness.
